I said: “Your cap is nice.”
He smiled.
I said: “Did you make it.”
He nodded.
I said: “Can I take a photo?”
He stopped work, and removed the cap from his head.
I said: “No, no, keep it on, and keep working.”
He said: “Will you take half a kilo instead of a quarter? I’ll give it to you at less.”
I said: “No, I can eat only a quarter.”
He said: “Please.”
I said: “No.”
He said: “You didn’t take a photo of the jackfruit. Wait, I’ll split it open a bit more. Then, you’ll be able to see it.”
I said: “Thanks. What’s your name?”
He said: “Soeb.”
I said, “Thanks, Soeb. And bye.”

I know. These kids just freak me out. The only way I can cope is by exchanging a few words, I think, or taking some snaps. Not much. π¦

What I wouldn’t do for some ripe jackfruit right now. π¦ I love it to pieces. I think my mother’s made kathal ki sabzi once or twice but those are the small, green ones. I never ate it. She makes sabzi out of the ripe jackfruit seeds that is yum.
Amrita, we used to roast the seeds when we were kids, and eat them, they make your throat all dry, but hey, as kids one could gobble up anything. π
That’s really amazing work. I *hate* that he can’t go to school. π¦

I don’t remember when I last ate ripe jackfruit.
Had the sabzi in a Southie thali a few months ago.
I’m too lazy to do all the cutting required:(
Don’t live it enough to take trouble over it!
Dipali, I’ve never, never cut the jackfruit. Would never attempt to. In Mumbai, Pune, you always find the vendor who’ll cut it for you.
